2016 Offensive Preparation Camp
for QBs and Receivers

This is a revolutionary "offensive team" camp with a twist. Quarterbacks and Receivers are addressed within individual groups by an expert position coach over the vast majority of the camp. The two positions come together to perform joint drills when each group has reached a certain level of proficiency. It truly is the best of both worlds - highly individualized instruction combined with joint position exercises. Prepare your team for offensive success this coming season. Attend this camp!

Camp Leader: Coach Dub Maddox

Coach Maddox is the Offensive Coordinator and QB Coach for the nationally ranked, 15-time 6A State Champion Jenks Trojans in Oklahoma and the Camp/Curriculum director for National Football Academies. Coach Maddox is considered one of the country's leading experts in QB training and offensive scheme tactics. He is the author and co-creator of the revolutionary R4 system - a reads and recognition system that is used to accelerate decision making for QB's and Receivers and provide sound offensive concepts for their coaches. Coach Maddox's QB's, Receivers and offenses have set numerous state and school records including the all-time state scoring record by averaging 53.4 points per game. Of the four QB's that he has coached at Jenks since 2006 all of them have finished with a 70%+ completion percentage along with 20:1 TD to interception ratio.

Camp Sessions: Timing and Content

Day 1: Registration at 8:00am, Camp Session 9:00am-4:00pm
Phase 1: Installation, Analysis, Listen and Learn

We begin by teaching the primary passing and receiving movements (mechanics) of each position using a common language, non-negotiables, and universal truths that sequentially order that movement's execution toward the desired changes. This segment is not about an information transfer, it's about permanent transformation through building block learning supported by compelling arguments, science and biomechanics that result in accelerated understanding. Phase 1 includes:

  • Leadership and character message
  • Detailed Instruction on the NFA Self-Correction System
  • Filming for video analysis
  • Passing fundamentals and skills
  • Primary movement mechanics installation

Phase 2: Implementation, Rep & Review

We continue accelerated athlete self-discovery and feel by isolating the most common primary movement variables through simple drill repetition. The goal is to convert the teaching of clearly delivered installation thoughts to an informed feel using measurable feedback from the results of simple drills & body shapes. This is done through drills that isolate movement with "all other things being constant" (ceteris paribus-Latin for controlling variables to determine whether a particular action is causing a failure or success of the whole).

Day 2: Camp Session 9:00am-12:00pm
Phase 3: Application, Act & Assess (with "light competition")

We generate small group, controlled, situational repetitions in live-fire scenarios and multi-tasking drills requiring discipline and awareness. This segment utilizes guided self-discovery over significant teaching as the preferred coaching method. The basics of the R4 read and defense recognition system are explained and demonstrated as well as the introduction of "decision accelerators" to help QBs and receivers make faster, correct decisions before throwing the ball. Each player is engaged by the coach after each repetition to demonstrate situational awareness, grasp of assignment, and mastery of technique.

Phase 4: Competition, Fire & Feedback

Completing the full scope of learned behavior with immediate feedback, total skill integration, and performance driven outcomes. This represents the actual assessment phase of what level of change penetration has been achieved. Phase 2, 3 and 4 Include:

  • High Performance footwork and drops
  • Video analysis
  • Coverage and how to attack it
  • On field escape drills
  • Throwing under pressure
